2 Ways to Start Burning fat Quickly

1. Start Exercising first thing in the morning.
Studies show that working out in the morning has been shown to burn up to 3x as more fat as opposed to working out at any other time during the day. When you wake up in the morning your body doesn't have any carbohydrates as energy to use and it will look to burn body fat instead for energy.
For you to take advantage of this morning fat burning opportunity you have to exercise first thing in the morning. Don't eat breakfast because if you do you'll just give your body some carbohydrates as a source of energy instead of the body fat that you want to burn for energy.
Another great thing about working out first thing in the morning is that your metabolism gets revved up after your morning workout. Morning workouts keep your metabolism elevated throughout the day. An elevated metabolism throughout the day only means that you'll burn more calories and lose more weight. If you workout at night you may still burn fat while you workout but as soon as you go to sleep your metabolism will slow down and you'll miss out on all the extra fat that you can burn during the day if you had exercised in the morning. Advanced Tip: Want to burn even more fat? Add another workout to your daily routine 4-6 hours after your morning workout. Keep your already high metabolism higher by adding a 2nd workout during the day. If you're seriously thinking about adding a 2nd workout to your daily routine then try to do your cardio workouts in the morning. Mostly fat calories are burned doing cardio at a moderate intensities. Make your 2nd workout of the day a workout with weights. Mostly carbohydrate is burned doing weight-training workouts. The muscle that you build from weight training will also help you burn fat. 1lb of Muscle burns 50 calories a day or 1lb of fat every 70 days. whatever your weight is.

2. Eat Breakfast

Another way to keep your metabolism revved up all day long is to eat breakfast. After you workout in the morning as discussed earlier, just have breakfast and you'll give your body the perfect 1-2 combination to jump start your metabolism.
Eating breakfast in the morning is what gets your metabolism started. Don't skip breakfast and wait until mid-morning or afternoon to eat, your metabolism will run slower causing you not burn any extra fat.
When you eat breakfast you are basically throwing a log onto that fireplace to get it started burning fat.
Eating breakfast will help stop those cravings you may have later on in the day and along with working out in the morning, eating breakfast will also keep you energized throughout the day and lower stress levels.
Advanced Tip: Instead of eating only 2 more meals during the day like lunch & dinner, try to eat 4-5 more small mini-meals spaced 2-3 hours apart during the day. Remember the fireplace? By eating these mini-meals you'll be throwing just the right amount of "wood" on the fireplace to keep your metabolism burning calories throughout the day. Don't shut down your metabolism by eating big lunches or dinners, keep that metabolism of yours burning fat all day long.
Morning Checklist
1. Workout for at least 30min after waking up in the morning
2. Eat a healthy breakfast
3. Burn fat & lose more weight during the day

3 Ways Going with the Flow Will Make You Fat - And What To Do About It!

Wanna know the truth? If you're going to be slim, you're going to have to swim against the current. You're going to have to take charge of your body and make your own decisions?cause if you go with the flow today, I guarantee that you're going to be fat.
Here are 3 reasons why:
#1) Rampant Portion Sizes
'Supersize it', 'Biggie Fries', 'Value Meal', 'Super Big Gulp' ? phrases that we use so commonly, it's hard to believe that we'd have to explain what they mean to someone from another era.
Restaurants have blown their portion sizes so big in the name of providing 'value' that one meal could feed a small soccer team.
Considering that your stomach is roughly the size of your fist (but thank goodness it stretches!), the portion sizes you get today in the average restaurant could probably fill 5 or more stomachs.
But we're told to get our money's worth right? So go ahead and eat up. That way you can spend your money going to the doctor for obesity related health problems later. That's truly getting your money's worth!
#2) Diet as Religion
Diets boast a stellar 2-5% success rate (that's a 98% FAILURE rate by the way). And yet if an alien landed in North America, he (or she) would be convinced that our society must be built on the value of dieting.
Billboards, magazines, books, television shows, ads, even restaurant menus?everywhere you look you're inundated with the latest diet, diet food or diet plan. Diets are touted as the ONLY solution to weight loss.
We have more diets on the market now than ever before. We have more people on a diet now than ever before ? and yet we continue to get fatter?is there ANY POSSIBLE connection here?

#3) Escalator Generation
Go with the flow and you'll enjoy a multitude of worldly conveniences. You can microwave your dinner in 5 minutes, load your dishwasher in 2 and pay the dog walker in 1. You don't have to walk to the store - just hop in the car. Your kids don't have to go swimming ? they've got a new Xbox game. Don't bother taking the stairs because there's an elevator.
You can sit at a desk for long hours without even getting up from your chair. And when you do come home from work ? you have the luxury of flopping on the couch and watching 'Friends' while eating takeout.
Go with the flow my friend and you'll expend less energy while eating more. Oh - and you'll also be told that taking a pill is the only way to solve the problem of your ever-increasing waistline.
One of the best photographs I ever saw was of the front of a gym. There was a staircase leading up to the gym with an escalator beside it. And you guessed it ? people were taking the escalator UP to the gym! The only guy on the stairs was walking DOWN them. That pretty much sums up the problem.
Unfortunately, if you go with the flow in our world today, chances are very high that you're going to get fat. BUT by knowing what you're up against, you can take steps to go against the flow. By taking a stand, taking charge and making positive choices for your body ? you can live slim and healthy in a world skewed towards weight gain.

7 Ways to Stop Nighttime Snacking in Front of the TV

Stop Being Influenced by Food Ads on TV
There is much in the news today about obesity and you can be assured that the food industry fully intends to place the blame squarely on the individual, despite the fact they spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year in an effort to entice us to buy more and more of their products. Children are especially vulnerable to the advertising for cereals, snack bars, crackers, cookies, candy, and fast foods. Colorful packaging, and now even colorful foods to encourage the little shoppers to badger their parents into buying the "convenient" snack packs for them. "Mommy I want it" is exactly the result advertisers are paying to obtain. If you live in modern society, you can't escape advertising. How many times have you been happily minding your own business when suddenly the TV screen flashes a big, juicy, something! Your stomach may start gurgling, your mouth starts watering, and the launch sequence for hunger has begun. Once the countdown starts, nothing can stop the launch into the kitchen, or for the seriously dedicated, out the door to go get something to eat. The ads are designed to do this, and they work well as we prove with our food dollars every day.
Count the Food Ads
Next time you watch TV keep a note pad nearby and make a little hash mark every time you see a commercial that encourages you to eat. You'll also notice there are certain ads that seem to trigger the hunger response more than others. What is it about those ads? Do you start to mentally taste the food? Does it remind you of happy occasions? Notice whether it is the people in the ad, the message itself, the words they use, even the background music or scenery? See if you can pin-point what, exactly, it is about the ad that draws you in. Evenings are an especially rough time for dieters because of the over abundance of advertising for food. Seeing delicious things to eat can create the sensation of hunger until it becomes a patterned response. Turning on the TV then begins to make you hungry, even without the food cues.
7 Ways to Combat Evening Snacking Habit
1. Mute the commercials or switch to another channel (channel surfers already do this anyway). Not watching or hearing the ad can help enormously. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.
2. Use commercial break time to do housework. 3. Mute the ads and keep your hands busy until your show comes back on with a project like knitting, reading or finishing that book you've been writing.
5. Step outside and breath some fresh air for a few minutes.
6. Exercise during the ads. It's a great leg exercise. Use a kitchen chair rather than the couch to be kinder on your knees.
7. Move to another seat in the room.
Be Willing to Experiment and You can Overcome the Allure of the Food Ads
The worst thing you can do is simply watch and then attempt to combat your growing desire to eat. Once the idea that you're hungry is planted, it becomes much more difficult to change your mind. Instead stop the idea from occurring in the first place by finding something else to do instead of watching another Burger King commercial.
Advertising only works when we're paying attention, either watching or listening. I've no quarrel with advertisers, I advertise my services too, but watching one hundred ads all featuring food after dinnertime is a bit much for anyone to endure. Food ads are designed for you to simply sit and be mesmerized by the flashing words, snappy slogans, colors and lights. Pay closer attention, or pay none at all, but either way you'll gain a much greater understanding of how advertising influences you.

7 Part Plan To Beating Childhood Obesity

Everyone from politicians to parents is talking about fighting the war against childhood flab. It is odd that in a relatively wealthy countries such as the US and Australia improving children's health, weight and fitness should be a problem but it appears to be a sticking point with many.
Childhood obesity in a developed country like Australia and the United States is essentially a lifestyle issue. Children are overweight because they eat inappropriate amounts and types of food and they don't exercise enough. To put it simply many children are stacking on the weight because calorie intake is higher than calories burned.
Children's lifestyles are generally a reflection of those who raise them so parents need to figure heavily in any strategies put forward to improve the health and wellbeing of the next generation.
The trouble is many parents have grown accustomed to outsourcing those hard to deal with issues such as sexuality and drug education to schools and other agencies. Children' health and well-being is an issue that parents should take prime responsibility for. Parents can beat childhood obesity rather than leave it up to schools to fix or politicians to meddle with.
Here is a simple, fool-proof lifestyle plan that parents can adopt to ensure their children grow up healthy and fit rather than overweight and unhealthy:
1. Limit the amount of children's television, computer and electronic games usage to a maximum of two hours a day. Send children outside, suggest they walk or ride to a friend's house or even suggest they have a friend or four over to play. One third of Australian children would prefer to play computer games than play outside so parents may have to be assertive and, at times, over-zealous but so be it.
2. Children walk or ride a bike to school each day. Recent Roy Morgan research revealed that 60 per cent of Australian 6 ? Most children would get their required minimum two hours of exercise a week by walking or riding their bikes to school. This may mean that parents may have to walk to school with younger children or ensure they are adequately supervised. Bike riding is not safe for every child but more bike tracks in the vicinity of schools would be a great start.
3. Keep unhealthy food out of the trolley and include more fruit. It seems that parents are on the right track as more Australian children eat fruit after school than sweet biscuits but even so the number of fruit eaters can do with a boost. Only 43 per cent of Australian children eat fruit after school so more fruit could be a good place to start.
4. Serve healthy meals at the table on a regular basis. Far from being a refuelling stop mealtime is an opportunity for everyone to catch up and to share good healthy, well-prepared food. True, busyness of life get in the way of this healthy ritual but it is about getting our priorities right.
5. Parents play with their children or join them in a physical activity. The family that plays together stays thin together could well be the motto of our times. It should be easy for adults to sell their children on the virtues of playing physical games outside as play comes before work in most children's dictionaries. 6. Encourage children to be involved in at least one organised physical activity each week. Some parents may need to be insistent but 88 per cent of Australian children say they enjoy sport so getting children motivated for physical activity shouldn't be hard. There is no shortage of options for children these days as there are activities and sports that cater of a diverse range of interests, abilities and body types.
7. Parents model a healthy lifestyle. It is little use parents telling their kids to go out and play as they tuck into their second wine or they slump into the couch. Modelling is the most important tool in the armoury if we want children to develop sustained healthy eating and exercise habits. For the record, a healthy lifestyle is one where people talk to each other (ideal for emotional well-being), one where food and alcohol intake occurs in moderation and physical activity is a natural part of the day.

7 Strategies To Stop Eating Junk Food!

Research into how junk food and fast food restaurants affect obesity, have found that there may be a relationship between the number of people per fast food restaurant and how many square miles there are between fast food restaurants located within your local area and obesity rates.
The way in which we eat, and what we eat, is of vital importance to our state of health. The convenience and habitual nature of the problem mean that fast food consumption is so in-grained, that healthy eating is near impossible.
There are no easy ways to fix junk food habits and make them into healthy habits, but I do have 7 quick strategies that you can easily put into place to start into motion your new lifestyle without junk food. I recommend implementing these one at a time, to ensure that you don't overload and burn yourself out.
2. Make a shopping list on the computer with all the regular foods that you buy, to ensure that you aren't going to run out of food at the end of the week, tempting you to reach for the fast food pamphlet, running out for take-away or buying unnecessary food items.
Eat 6 small meals instead of 3 large ones, snacking on healthy foods such as a fat burning apple, protein packed, metabolism raising light salad with boiled eggs and flaxseed oil dressing.
4. Make food your hobby. Join a cookery class. There are often many community classes that you can enrol in inexpensively to learn how to prepare interesting food.
5. Unplug the TV at the point. Particularly around 6-8 pm, the junk food restaurants will advertise, watch a DVD during these times. A recent review of childhood obesity research, has, not surprisingly found that the amount of time you spend watching TV has a direct affect on being overweight.
2 eggs beaten
1 Chopped lean bacon rasher - no fat.
1 chopped canned tomato
1/4 cup soy milk/low fat milk
1 finely chopped leaf spinach/frozen spinach
Sprinkling of low fat cheese
Mix ingredients together in mixing bowl. Transfer into a microwave safe bowl and cook on high for 2 minutes or until eggs have solidified. Eat with a low GI bread. You'll find that depending on the quantity eaten, it can be a filling snack or light dinner.
Avoid the restaurants with the all-you-can-eat option. These restaurants unfortunately encourage people to eat until they are bloated. Researchers found that 20% of weight gain among freshman University students could be attributed to their eating in the all-you-can-eat student dining halls.

7 Weight Control Habits

Here are 7 simple habits that can help anyone enjoy a healthy diet and keep their weight under control without feeling hungry all the time.
1. Always drink a glass of water before eating a meal. This fills your tummy so you are not as hungry. It also helps to relieve any cravings. Some cravings are not for food but are actually cravings for water. Coffee and soft drinks actually cause more dehydration. Plain old water is what your body wants. If ice water gives you a tummy ache, just ask for water without any ice. Some Hollywood celebrities carry a supply of bottled water in their cars and they secretly drink a bottle before going into a restaurant to meet their friends.
2. Always start your meal with a salad. Salads fill you up and are low in calories. Skip the creamy and fatty dressings and get an olive oil and vinegar type instead. Get in the habit of eating salads with lunch and dinner whenever possible. If you need a between-meals snack, try some veggies dipped in nonfat ranch dressing. Salads and raw vegetables are filling and satisfying.
3. Use a smaller plate when eating at home. Larger plates encourage you to eat larger portions. This fact is not lost on restaurant owners. It is no secret that restaurant plates have grown larger and larger over recent years. Restaurants need to make as much money as they can from each table of customers. When you sit down to eat they want you to buy a larger more costly meal. 4. Split an entree when dining at a restaurant that serves large portions. Many people will be relieved to have someone to split an entree with. They never eat the whole meal either. Plus you will either both save some money or you can use the extra money to order something extra-fancy as to reward yourselves.
5. At breakfast time, get in the habit of having scrambled eggs or oatmeal. These two foods make low fat, healthy meals that fill you up and keep you going all morning. Professional athletes swear by these two breakfasts. One woman who won a "best body" contest said she ate scrambled eggs (Eggbeaters) every single day. 6. Eat more chicken at lunch and dinner. You can't go wrong with grilled, skinless chicken breast. It is a low fat, high protein food that models and bodybuilders live on every day. Some choices are chicken fajitas, chicken Caesar salad, teriyaki chicken, barbecued chicken, chicken and pasta, you name it.
7. Skip dessert. Many people get in the habit by practicing saying "Oh no thanks, I never eat dessert." Some desserts pack on more fat and calories than the entire meal did. Skip dessert and if you crave chocolate bring some along. Those after dinner chocolates with mint are always nice to clear the palate and make you feel like you've had a small indulgence.
These 7 habits can make a real difference in any weight control and healthy diet plan. Good luck with your health and fitness goals.

8 Ways to Rev up Your Metabolism

As we get older weight gain begins to creep up on us. So what is this weight gain mystery?
The shift of midlife weight gain actually begins in our 20's ? 30's. We naturally gain body fat while losing lean body mass. This loss of lean body mass can greatly affect our metabolism. Starting at about age 25, a person's metabolism declines approximately 5 percent every decade! So it seems we are entering into the battle of age vs. metabolism. We can't control ageing, so what now? Do we wave our white flags and succumb to what seems a natural progression of unwanted, continuous weight gain?
Absolutely not! Increase Muscle Mass
The most important factor of metabolism is lean body mass. Muscle burns up to 90% more calories than fat. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn in a day. By adding three to five pounds of muscle you could actually burn 100 - 250 additional calories a day. Try adding a weight bearing activity 2-3 times a week such as lifting free weights, walking, or resistance training. Simply carrying your groceries home could be considered weight bearing! Lifting 5-8 pound hand weights while watching your favorite television show could go a long way towards burning calories.
? Don't Skip Meals!
The myth that skipping meals decreases your total calorie level and helps you to lose weight is not true. When people skip meals or decrease their calories significantly (< 1000 calories/day), they actually decrease their metabolism. They go into "starvation mode" where the body tries to compensate for the low calories. Always eat at least 3 meals and avoid dipping below 1000 calories a day.
? Regular activity
Regular exercise routines such as biking, walking, or hiking will help raise your metabolism during the activity and for several hours after. Even simple movements such as taking the stairs, house cleaning, or simple yard work can help increase your burn rate.
? Adequate Protein
Protein provides the building blocks for muscle. Without adequate protein you may actually lose muscle. You need about .4 - .5 gram of protein per pound body weight. Sleep!
A 1999 University of Chicago study showed that sleep loss affects the way we metabolize carbohydrates resulting in glucose intolerance and possibly leading to increased hunger and a slowed metabolism. Decrease Alcohol Consumption
Alcohol may suppress your body's ability to burn fat. Studies show that when you drink alcohol, your body burns fat more slowly than usual during that particular meal. Watch your alcohol intake.
? Try a cup of Green Tea
A small study showed that green tea appeared to raise metabolic rates and speed up fat oxidation. The calorie losses were small- around 60 calories/day. Green tea also has other health benefits because of its significant antioxidant components. You might as well add a little boost to your metabolism while protecting yourself from heart disease, cancer, and strokes.
? Got calcium?
Recent research shows that calcium -- three or four daily servings of low-fat dairy products -- can help adjust your body's fat-burning machinery. The more calcium in the cells resulted in an increase in fat metabolism.
Beware of Magic Cures
We have all seen the ads for products that increase our metabolism and promise miraculous weight loss. Metabolism boosters and Fat Burners ? not only do the people they show us in the testimonials lose weight they also end up with a firm body and a six pack stomach. Many of them contain either human growth hormone, which can lead to joint or heart problems, or epinephrine type ingredients that are correlated with increased blood pressure. The answer is the good old tried and true: eat a balanced diet that does not exceed your calorie needs, exercise regularly and sleep well. © Meri Raffetto, 2004

10 Easy to follow Tips to help YOU Lose Weight

Dieting is not easy. SUCCESS TIP NO. 1: DRINK 8-10 GLASSES OF WATER EACH DAY
Water doesn't taste all that great generally because water doesn't really "taste" like anything. Drinking water 8 to 10 times each day gets easier the more you actually do it. To begin with, you should drink a glass of water in the morning first thing, before you eat. This is probably the easiest glass you will drink all day and it will help you remember to drink water all day long. If you really cannot bear the taste of water, try using a water purifying pitcher or filter. Ice also helps.
Check out flavored waters on the market, too. SUCCESS TIP NO. 2: EAT BREAKFAST
Do not skip breakfast. Eating breakfast is not only good for overall weight loss, it will help you stay on track with your diet the rest of the day. If you plan to eat fruit at all during the day, breakfast is the perfect time to do it. SUCCESS TIP NO. 3: EAT AT LEAST 3 MEALS AND 2 SNACKS EACH DAY
Just like eating breakfast will increase your metabolism, so will eating more often. Really, it will just take a minimal investment of planning time at the grocery store and at home each morning before you head out for the day to make some healthy food choices and prepare a few healthy snacks and meals. For suggestions, just see the handy list of snacks and appetizers listed later.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 4: AVOID WHITE FOODS
This is one easy way to remember what not to eat. If it is made from sugar, flour, potatoes, rice or corn - just say no. Remembering this rule of thumb will make it easier to recognize those rice cakes as an unhealthy high-carb snack.
Buy broccoli, lettuce, bell peppers, green beans and peas, brown rice in moderation, leafy greens like kale and spinach, apples, melons, oranges and grapes.
These foods are not only colorful they are also high in fiber, nutrients and important antioxidants. Eating colorful fruits and vegetables will give your diet variety as well as give you added health benefits.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 5: EAT YOUR VEGGIES
It is so easy to use a low-carb diet as an excuse for poor nutrition. If you try hard enough, you will find vegetables that you enjoy eating. Experiment with grilling veggies and cooking with real butter to add flavor. Remember, if you are only eating 40 grams of carb a day or less, two cups of plain salad greens contain only about 5 grams of carbohydrate. You have no excuse not to eat your veggies.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 6: PREPARE YOUR OWN FOOD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
While more and more restaurants are offering low-carb friendly menu items, many of them are still not ideal low-carb fare. If you cook your own foods, you know exactly what the contents are and you will be able to better control for hidden sugar and otherwise processed foods.
Another benefit is the cost savings over the long run. Even if you must go to the grocery store more often, you will save a significant amount per meal as opposed to eating at restaurants and fast food establishments.
It will also be easier to maintain your diet with your own favorite fresh food selections on hand.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 7: INVEST IN A GOOD SET OF FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS
Having food storage containers of various sizes on hand will make it so much easier for you to plan your meals and snacks. When you buy nuts, fruits and vegetables in bulk you can simply prepare, separate and store them for easy use later.
Better yet, fix your lunch and 2 snacks for work.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 8: EAT SOME PROTIEN AT EACH MEAL & AS A SNACK
In addition to everything that's been discussed before, eating protein helps you burn more calories. eating a protein rich snack can help you lose weight. Eating protein will also help you feel full so that you are less likely to crave unhealthy snacks.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 9: DRINK A GLASS OF WATER AFTER EACH SNACK
Ever feel hungry after eating a handful or standard serving of nuts? Try drinking water afterwards. The water will help you feel full and prevent overindulgence.
Drinking water after a snack will also help remove the aftertaste from your mouth and can help curb your desire for more.
SUCCESS TIP NO. 10: EAT SLOWLY & ENJOY YOUR FOOD
You will feel full and more satisfied if you take the time to savor your food and chew it slower. Don't get in the habit of eating while standing or eating quickly. Send a blank email to: mailto:weightlose@yourbestchoices.com and get a free ebook "The Power of Positive Habits" as welcome gift.

3 Easy Dieting Success Tips

1. Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day
Okay, for many people this is a big problem. You can also add a few drops of lemon or lime to your water ? but no sugar or sweetener! Ice also helps.
Check out flavored waters on the market, too.

2. Eat breakfast
Do not skip breakfast. According to Dr. Barbara Rolls a professor of nutrition at Penn State University, "Your metabolism slows while you sleep, and it doesn't rev back up until you eat again."
Eating breakfast is not only good for overall weight loss, it will help you stay on track with your diet the rest of the day. You are more likely to binge on something sweet and in the "bread" group if you skip breakfast.
You can always keep a couple of hard-boiled eggs in the fridge or some high-fiber, low starch fruit around. If you plan to eat fruit at all during the day, breakfast is the perfect time to do it.

3. Eat at least 3 meals and snacks each day

When do you have time to worry about filling your plate with more frequent meals?
Just like eating breakfast will increase your metabolism, so will eating more often. Really, it will just take a minimal investment of planning time at the grocery store and at home each morning before you head out for the day to make some healthy food choices and prepare a few healthy snacks and meals.

3 Simple Weight Loss Tips from the Pros

Tip 1) DRINK A GLASS OF WATER AFTER EACH SNACK
This will help you get in your 8 to 10 glasses of water each day but it can also have other benefits. Ever feel hungry after eating a handful or standard serving of nuts? Try drinking water afterwards. The water will help you feel full and prevent overindulgence.
Drinking water after a snack will also help remove the aftertaste from your mouth and can help curb your desire for more.

Tip 2) EAT SLOWLY & ENJOY YOUR FOOD

You will feel full and more satisfied if you take the time to savor your food and chew it slower. Don't get in the habit of eating while standing or eating quickly. Sit down and chew.
Eating slower will help you enjoy your food more, pay attention to what it is you are actually eating and get a better sense of when you are actually full.

Tip 3) EAT YOUR LARGER MEALS EARLY, AND SMALLER MEALS LATER
You will feel better and lose weight quicker if you eat a large breakfast and eat a smaller dinner. You may also want to eat the majority of your carbs earlier in the day, saving a salad and lean meat protein for dinner.
Eating larger meals during the part of the day when you are most active will help you to feel satisfied throughout the day and curb cravings for unhealthy snacks.

5 Tips To Losing Weight With Convenience Food

TIP 1 - Shop Smart
Never shop on an empty stomach. Always be prepared with a thorough shopping list and do not divert from it. If an aisle is full of tempting goodies but has nothing on your list, simply walk right by it, instead of down it.
TIP 2 - Read Labels
All convenience foods are not the same. Depending on your chosen diet, some will fit much better into your routine than others. This is why it's important to become an informed consumer and never place anything in your grocery basket unless you've read the label and determined it's in your best interests to buy it.
TIP 3 - Trim The Fat
Just because a macaroni and cheese frozen dinner is oozing extra cheese doesn't mean you have to eat it. A common sense approach to preparing and consuming convenience foods can go a long way to making them healthier. When you take a frozen meal out halfway to stir it, remove or blot away any excess oils and fats. Transfer to a real plate when finished, so you can discard the excess sauces.
TIP 4 - Portion Control
It's easy to lose track of how much you've eaten when you drink or eat straight from the container. Stay on track by carefully measuring out serving sizes before you begin eating. When you do buy items like chips or pretzels, locate the appropriate serving size on the nutrition label. As soon as you arrive home, divide the larger bag into individual servings in small plastic baggies.
TIP 5 - Make Your Own
There's no rule that says only store-bought, pre-packaged foods are convenient. Take time on the weekend or on days off to do some conscientious grocery shopping and cook one or two large meals of something healthy that you enjoy. Separate into serving sizes and refrigerate (or freeze) as necessary. Voila! Now you have your own frozen dinners (or lunches, or snacks) with much healthier contents.
In conclusion, choosing the ideal convenience food to help with weight loss is not a simple task in today's world of fast-paced living. But there sure are many helpful planning solutions available to fit every budget both online and in the real world. And by choosing foods to help with our individual health issues and concerns, and reaching out for support, information and dietary planning when needed, not one of us has to "go it" alone.

5-Step Weight Loss Program for Permanent Weight Loss

Here are five easy steps to gain control of your weight loss efforts.
STEP 1: State What You Want Now
"I want to lose 50 pounds."
If not, break it down into smaller mini-goals. "I want to lose 5 pounds this month."
"I want to step on the scale and see (state a number) pounds (remember, keep it something you can achieve in one month).
"I want to feel my pants getting looser."
"I want to see myself in the mirror wearing last year's bathing suit and it fits."
"I want to notice my clothes are getting too big for me."
"I want to easily bend over and touch my toes."
"I want to get up from a seated position, easily and gracefully."
Those are positive goals.
STEP 2: Make A Plan
Get out your weekly calendar and start with eating less (portion control), eating more (healthier foods), or eating differently in some way.
STEP 3: Consider Exercise
Adding regular exercise helps more than anything else because the more active you become the more calories you burn, and if you build muscle, the more calories you'll burn at rest. Do you need equipment, books, tapes or can you just get started and gather the other ingredients as you go?
Your plan should include which days of the week and at what time. Don't make the mistake of trying to decide you'll exercise every day. You're not likely to stick to a plan that doesn't have build-in off days. Make it easy at first.
STEP 4: Decide Whether Your Plan Is Workable For You
If not, make changes until it is.
Start by listing each item, and then asking yourself how will you achieve this?
1. I want to eat less quantity. See if that is sufficient. Keep a food diary for one week, religiously writing down everything that goes in your mouth.
2. I want to eat more healthier foods. I'll achieve this by adding more fruits and vegetables for snacks, so when I'm hungry, or think I'm hungry an apple or some carrots might be my snack of choice. This has the added benefit of more nutrition.
3. I want to eat differently. I'll achieve this by paying more attention while eating. Turn off distractions. Think of each bite as a separate event. Write down what I'm tasting and see what I notice now that I never noticed before? Different smells, sights, textures, and subtle tastes. I'll make an effort to really chew each bite at least 10 times.
4. I want to add some exercise. I'll achieve this by getting a book either at the library or a store, get a free pass to my closest gym, talk to friends, borrow exercise tapes. No matter if others see me, I don't care. Start slowly, after the first few weeks, add more if I'm ready.
Close your eyes and imagine your plan.
If you chose getting up an hour earlier, can you see yourself doing it? Does it fit?
STEP 5: Set Up Plan A And Determine What You Need To Get Started
Plan A: I need a small notebook I can carry with me for keeping track of daily foods (this is only needed for a week or two to get an idea of what I'm eating).
Need monthly calendar to track my exercise minutes, even if it's only 10 minutes this month and 20 next, that's progress. You are after progress, not perfection. Visit library or order book online for using bodyweight for exercises. Pushups, crunches, etc., can be done without any extra equipment.
Buy healthy foods to have on hand such as fruits, cut up vegetables. Make dinner at least twice a week and freeze leftovers into ready-to-eat frozen meals.
Purchase or order supplements, protein powders, etc., if I want them.
Start working your plan. Don't wait for the next full-moon or some other arbitrary starting date. The sooner you start, the sooner you begin to see results.
If you use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), do it at least three times a day. Check in with your list of behaviors you'd like to change, and then work on one issue each week or until it becomes a non-issue, then move to the next.
Example EFT statements:
"Even though I'm frustrated by all these instructions, I deeply and completely accept myself."
"Even though I hate all this and just want to wake up skinny, I deeply and completely accept myself."
No matter what, if you are putting attention on this process, then you are making progress. It doesn't matter if you keep to your plan exactly. What does matter is that you make a plan at all.
If you make a small effort every day you'll find that some days will be better than others, and that's okay. It's easy to forget, and fall back into our usual patterns which is why keeping a notebook handy helps keep you on track. So does scheduling your workout time just like you would any appointment, and then keeping it.
The point is not to be perfect--the point is to take action.
You can use a grading system, such as one point for achieving each item on your list, and tallying the points at the end of the week. You could also color in the squares on the calendar, so when you achieve what you planned, you color it in, but if you didn't achieve what you planned, you don't color it in. That way you can see at a glance how often the calendar is colored, how many squares are missing, etc. Having a visual display of your progress can help keep you on track. Remember, expect to be less than perfect in the beginning.
Think of it as nothing more than a learning experience, and go ahead to see if you can prove me wrong. Just no matter what, no matter if it's been a week since you did anything on your list, it does not matter; just pick up where you left off and start again.
Small Changes Equal Big Results
If you achieved your goals on 200 of them this year, wouldn't that be an improvement over last year? As you improve, your weight will fall. That's how it works. That's why people who achieve their best weight and maintain it have learned how to stay "on plan" than "off plan."
I don't diet, and I never have yet I maintain my weight. I can eat candy, cookies and cake any time I want, but usually I don't want to. That's the difference. When someone says they can eat what they want, they mean they usually want to eat foods they know will support their health goals.
Use these five steps to get started on a plan, right now. Start by getting a small notebook, then starting writing down th days of the week, thinking about your schedule and how you'll make some changes to your routine. After all, it's your present routine that isn't working, so you must make some changes. Make them fit, and then you'll fit into those smaller jeans in no time and this time it will be a permanent weight loss.

3 Reasons Why The Special K Diet Can Help You Lose Weight Quickly

by Vic George

Are you having problems losing weight like you want to? Don't feel like working out to lose weight quickly? Want to get slimmer in 14 days just by cutting out some calories? This article will reveal the five secrets of the Special K diet.
Lose 6 pounds in just 14 days. This is the promise of the Special K diet. With a claim like this it's natural to be skeptical. Let's look at this diet in detail.
What is the Special K Diet?
The Special K diet has been promoted by Kellogg's, the makers of the Special K cereal. You eat one bowl of Special K with skimmed milk, together with some fruit for two meals a day. Sounds simple. Here are 3 reasons why this diet works.

1. This is a low calorie diet. Anyone on a low calorie diet will lose weight over 2 weeks. It is just that the Special K diet is more convenient than other diets. Be aware that this diet is not good for the long term. It is only good for getting rid of some weight fairly quickly.

2. If you can combine this diet with exercise so much the better. With a bit of exercise you will burn calories as well as taking on less of them. However, the Special K diet is great for the lazy types as they will still lose weight with it in the short term.

3. Scientists at a leading University tested the Special K diet. They found after two weeks up as many as 3 out of 4 of test subjects had slimmer waists and hips. Most of them had lost fat loss.
So, you can lose weight over two weeks with the Special K diet. Being thinner is not a pipe dream, or for those with the perfect genetic make up. Do remember that this diet is great only for a 2 week jump-start; it is not healthy for long term.
Also, you will eventually grow tired of eating the same boring cereal every day, no matter how great your results become.

Weight Loss - not Always Fat Loss. Report

Author: RVBest |

Now adiposity is very widespread disease, therefore many are puzzled by a problem of shunt of excess weight. And except those whom recognise as corpulent, is also such as which associates and do not consider thick, but they are anxious by the weight and as wish to reduce it. Therefore the question of disposal of a part of an unnecessary fatty fabric for the sake of health and beautiful outward is very actual.

The basic indicator of adiposity is the body weight. It is very easy to measure it, as household and medical scales are extended and accessible to weighing of people. Certainly, more correct indicator is the mass of a fatty fabric of the person, but to define it very. Therefore the basic indicator of adiposity was and there is a body weight.

Owing to the specified causes struggle against adiposity turns to struggle against weight. And it in a root irregular! Loss of weight of the person at all always corresponds to loss of its fatty fabric.

If any person reports, what it has dumped, let us assume, 5 kg of weight, whether that means it, what it has got rid of five kgs of superfluous fat? Not necessarily. Weight - the general indicator which develops of mass of fat, an atomy, muscles, an internals, various fluids of an organism... Plus still mass of a contained gastrointestinal path which can variate in enough wide limens!

Let's consider such hypothetical situation. In the first day you ate and drank very nourishingly and much, so for the second day at you obvious disgust for nutrition. Therefore all second day you fur-trees also did not drink nothing. If you effect weighings by morning of the second and third day the difference between them for certain would appear considerable - to 3 kg or even more. That is for days of unload you would lose, let us assume, 3 kg of weight. And how many you would dump for this time of fat?

At all! After a gluttony in the first day of the consumed nutrients quite will suffice the next days and even remains so to resort to an expenditure of a reserve from a fat depo it is not required. Loss of weight within the whole days of unload is caused by expenditure of the alimentary materials acquired from nutrition eaten the day before, evacuations of not digested residual, and also loss Waters with then, urine and expired air. So in the given example weight loss - 3 kgs, and fat loss - 0 kg.

Other example. In hot weather the person is capable to lose from then very many water. Water can intensively be lost and without a heat if to accept diuretic medicines. In these cases water loss can reach 10 kg, and fat loss, as well as in the previous example - 0.

By the way, this effect sometimes use for a deceit of clients some dishonest "dieticians". They can give the tablets keeping diuretics that the patient was happy with fast shunt of hated weight under the pretext of medicines for adiposity.

Quite often means for growing thin comprise laxative components. It is correct, as many persons with adiposity suffer locks. And after visitation of a toilet the weight will naturally decrease. But it is not necessary to believe fondly, that this loss of weight is fat loss.

As we have considered, is frequent enough weight loss can to advance fat loss considerably. In that case there is a question: and with what speed the weight without a deceit, at the expense of one only a fatty fabric can decrease?

It depends on the chosen diet. An essence of any medical diet for shunt of superfluous fat - to create negative power balance that the organism has been forced to spend own fatty resources. Caloricity of one kg of fat is well-known - 9300 kcal. And what negative power balance can be?

On the daily caloricity all unloading diets can be divided into three bunches.

    1. The basic diet - is called so because its daily caloricity approximately corresponds to standard metabolism of the person - 1700-2200 kcal. The size of negative power balance on such diet is equal about 200-500 kcal so the weight is lost very slowly - an order 20-50 g a day.

    2. The reduced diet. Daily caloricity - 1200-1500 kcal, negative power balance - 500-900 kcal, and diurnal loss of fat has size of an order of 50-100

    3. A rigid diet. Daily caloricity - 400-800 kcal, negative power balance - 1400-1800 kcal, diurnal loss of fat can reach 200 such result the author of the given work in experiments on itself has received.

The basic diet usually do not love because of very slow loss of superfluous fatty stores. The rigid diet provides the fastest growing thin, but it as many complain, is rather painful. Therefore often make a compromise - the reduced diet.

Independently there is a full starvation at which the person at all does not receive some any nutrients; water is authorised only. Owing to that it is tolerated easier, than a rigid diet at starvation it is a lot of adherents. The most known books on starvation is "a starvation Miracle" (P.Bregg), "Starvation for the sake of health" (J.S.Nikolaev), etc. So, G.Shelton in the book "Starvation will rescue your life" gives of a word of one of the patients: "I have visited on widely advertised resort. They dieted me in 700 calories a day, and I constantly felt hunger. The same starvation was for me pleasure!" That is she asserted, that the rigid diet is painful, and starvation - is not present.

In same work Shelton answers on a question, with what speed there is a weight loss at full starvation - about one kg a day. Certainly, such fast loss of weight very much liked its patients. The author of this article too spent starvations, and has received other result - 0,5 kg a day (articles-reports "About 14-daily allowances starvation" and "About 15-daily allowances starvation" see).

But we will ask a question - this effective loss of weight was at the expense of fat or not? No, certainly! The organism of the starving spends very few energy - a maximum of 1800-2000 kcal a day, that corresponds 200 g fat (as at a rigid diet). And loss of other weight descends at the expense of expenditure of other soft fabrics. At hunger the organism is forced to utilise them that from proteins to receive glucose. And glucose is necessary for synthesis of accelerator for a tricarbonic acid cycle (a tricarbonic acid cycle - the basic source of reception of energy in an organism). From fats in an organism fuel is effected for a tricarbonic acid cycle but to burn this fuel, accelerator (synthesised of glucose), which is necessary, to regret, it is little by little lost, and it is necessary to supply it.

Thus, starvation is too one of examples at which loss of weight is more than fat loss. So if will spend full starvation, do not rejoice to fast losses of weight, and remember, that real loss of fat - an order 200 g a day.

Thus, we can answer now a question put above (with what speed the weight without a deceit can decrease, at the expense of one only a fatty fabric?), so: a maximum - 200 g a day. If the weight is lost faster it is necessary to understand at the expense of what there is a loss.

At shunt of excess weight by means of diets a situation usually "fair" - weight loss goes on 100 % at the expense of fat. But also at diets the weight can faster be lost, than it is necessary to expect. In this case it is necessary not to be under a delusion, and to check and understand, at the expense of what there is such loss of mass of a body. For example, during growing thin in hot weather some patients can casually confine fluid reception to observe faster falling of weight.

Or at the rigid To diet weight loss can sometimes exceed theoretical 200 g, that speaks about "eating" by an organism of a quantity of the soft fabrics. In this case it is necessary to reconsider a ration that carbohydrates for synthesis of accelerator for a tricarbonic acid cycle sufficed an organism and it was not required to spend for this purpose the squirrel of own soft fabrics.

By the way, the anatropic situation - fat loss more than weight loss is possible also. It is observed in the event that the corpulent person tries to grow thin by means of physical culture. In this case in an organism there are simultaneously two processes - a degrowth of fat and augmentation of mass of muscles. As the second particulate compensates the first the general weight reduction will be less expected, and the person in this case is usually dissatisfied with results.

Such situation which will seem to you improbable is possible even - fat is lost, and the mass - grows! It can be observed, if after long starvation the person "leaves" very gradually and any time "sits" on the reduced diet with the sufficient maintenance of high-grade protein. In this case the organism continues to spend the fat in the power purposes approximately with a speed 100 g in day. But in parallel already there is a restoration process.
The soft fabrics "eaten" during starvation, and the increase can quite compound 200-300 g a day. That is the body mass will accrue, though fat and continues to be spent.

So, if you have decided to dump excess weight irrespective of a mean and a method remember - very often loss of weight mismatches fat loss! Therefore, watching the tendency of the weight, do not deceive itself, and supervise process of loss of fat, for example, a method calipmetrion (measurements of a thickness of fatty folds).

The Pitfalls of Weight Loss Programs and Diets

Author: Antonio LeMaire

Most diet and weight loss programs have a depressingly high failure rate, with people either never reaching their weight goals or reaching them and regaining all the weight they lost (and sometimes more) in about one year.

Getting the weight off fast is so desirable that many of us are willing to sacrifice health and ignore common sense in the hope that some new weight loss program or scheme will work. This pipe dream can unfortunately outweigh the negative consequences. So let's examine the downside of dieting.

What Is An Unhealthy Weight Loss Program?

* Any weight loss program that is not nutritionally sound;
* One that works against what the body naturally needs like vitamins, minerals, and a minimum number of calories a day;
* One that requires you to go without eating (for example, fasting or meal replacement drinks);
* One that puts your body into an unnatural state, such as starvation or ketosis.

Your body can only lose a few pounds a week on a consistent basis. If you lose more than that initially, it's likely just water loss. So any weight loss program that promises you will lose five pounds a week, or 25 pounds in 3 weeks, is guaranteeing you will be losing water and muscle mass not fat.

Almost every popular weight loss program out there falls into one of the following diet categories: low calorie diets, meal replacement drinks, packaged foods, unbalanced nutrients, and ketosis diets. Let's see how they stack up.

LOW CALORIE DIETS

Whenever you drastically reduce your calories, the body enters an unnatural state and its defenses kick in. So when calories drop below, say, 1000 calories a day, your metabolism will shut down in an effort to conserve energy. And weight loss with a sluggish metabolism is very difficult.

Your body will start using muscle tissue to provide energy, which again leads to a decrease in the metabolism. Taken to an extreme, the body will break down its vital parts (such as the heart muscle) trying to meet its energy needs.

In addition to these drawbacks, trying to maintain the weight loss over time is nearly impossible because your body is now used to making do with very few calories. Going back to "normal" eating causes the weight to pile back on.

For this reason, low cal weight loss programs rarely work over the long haul.

MEAL REPLACEMENT DRINKS

One of the most unnatural things for your body is to go without solid food, which is what meal replacement plans ask it to do. Some people think that dieting will be easier if they aren't confronted with daily food choices and the pounds will just fall off. This may be true while they are on the liquid diet. But what about afterwards?

Where will the good eating habits come from after you've lost the weight? This is something that takes time, practice and knowledge. Dieters need to establish a healthy attitude towards a life-long eating plan. And no "fad" weight loss program or liquid lunch can help you with that.

Getting hooked on meal replacements can become a destructive way to view food. It often leads dieters to fear food or binge to "feed" their cravings after a long period of deprivation. And that's just the psychological side of the equation.

The lack of fiber in such weight loss programs can be a threat to good physical health. And when the body is denied enough solid food, the intestines go into overdrive absorbing calories and nutrients. This helps you during the diet period, but later it makes it much easier to regain the weight.

Another yo-yo weight loss program that hurts you in the end.

UNBALANCED NUTRIENT PLAN

Be cautious about any weight loss program that has strict rules about good foods and bad foods. Sure, high fat and high sugar foods might be considered bad for the waistline, but moderation not abstinence is key to success.

Why? Because eating the same foods every day (say, grapefruit or high protein meals) is going to result in two things: nutritional imbalance and boredom.

All foods are made up of the same nutrients in different amounts: fat, carbohydrates, and protein. It is the right proportion of these nutrients that will bring about weight loss - not the avoidance of "bad" foods and the consumption of only "good" or magical foods.

In the world of dieting, no one food or nutrient group is magical. Variety and moderation are the keys to a healthy diet and a successful weight loss program.

PACKAGED FOODS

To stay at your ideal body weight, you have to learn how to make proper food choices. By following a packaged food weight loss program you are postponing the inevitable, and spending plenty of $$$ in the process.

Another problem with this kind of weight loss program is that the foods provided are not always healthy. Read the package label and you will see chemicals, preservatives, sodium, sugar and saturated fats. And when all you can eat is packaged food, how do you plan meals with other people? Going out to restaurants and parties and enjoying family meals becomes a big hassle.

Your weight loss program then becomes a burden, not only to you, but to those around you.

KETOSIS DIETS

Ketosis has been defined as:

"An abnormal condition marked by excessive production of ketone bodies. Often caused by high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins diet."

Atkins and certain other weight loss programs are based on the principle of restricting carbohydrates to the point that the body enters into ketosis. On the surface, a ketogenic diet seems to work for two reasons: First, you'll lose large amounts of weight, which is very pleasing to the dieter. Secondly, you don't experience hunger.

But there are serious drawbacks. Your weight goes down due to water loss (which occurs when you restrict carbohydrates) and a loss of lean muscle tissue. This is NOT true, lasting weight loss.

The loss of appetite comes from having ketones building up in the body, which can harm your health. Side effects of a ketosis weight loss program can include fatigue, kidney stones, gout, and muscle loss. The longer you follow such a diet, the greater the risk to your health.

Clearly not a wise choice of weight loss program, not for the short term or the long.

WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM QUESTIONNAIRE

There are always new weight loss programs coming onto the market and going in and out of style. To evaluate if a weight loss program is healthy and sensible for you, ask yourself the following questions:

* Is the plan nutritionally sound?
* Will it help improve my weight, metabolism, cholesterol level, blood pressure, energy level, and general health?
* Will I be eating real food and not have to buy special formulas, drinks, etc?
* Will I be eating a wide variety of foods rather than just a few "diet" foods?
* Am I allowed to have some treats and eat my favorite foods?
* Can I eat out in restaurants, have a glass of wine with dinner, or some dessert?
* Can I follow this weight loss program without it interfering with my lifestyle?
* Can I lose weight without feeling hungry?
* Will l develop eating habits for life-long weight control with this weight loss program?
* Is this the last diet I will ever need to finally reach and maintain my ideal weight?

7 Simple Tips To Boost Your Weight Loss Program

Author: Jewel Kessler

If you are starting a weight loss program, it may be helpful for you to know that there are some simple steps you can take to make any weight loss program more effective. Let's share with you 7 tips that have been proven successful by millions of weight loss participants in any weight loss program of their choice.

Weight Loss Tip #1: Realistic Goals
The fastest way to lose motivation is to set unrealistic weight loss goals for yourself before you even start your weight loss program. Ask yourself some simple questions - What do you want to achieve from this weight loss program? How much weight do you want to lose in a day, a week or a month? Remember that each small goal you achieve will propel you closer to your final destination. But if you set unrealistic goals, you will only end up in frustration and disappointment when they are not achieved, even when you are making significant progress in your weight loss goals.

Weight Loss Tip # 2: Preparation is the Key
Now is the time to start a new lifestyle and start getting rid of your junk food, your colas in the refrigerator, those puddings and those chocolates you stash in your drawer!
